Foldnex Terms of Service
Foldnex is a local-first browser extension and these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You retain full custody over your tabs, browsing environment, and any optional third-party AI keys you choose to configure directly with providers.
Agreement to Terms
These terms apply when you use Foldnex, a Chrome extension published by MAGRATHEAN UK LTD ("Magrathean"). The Magrathean terms at magrathean.uk/terms/ also apply, including the sections on liability and law.
Grant of Licence
Foldnex's source code is available on GitHub under the MIT licence; that licence governs the code, including your right to copy, modify and redistribute it. These terms instead govern the packaged extension we publish — the Chrome Web Store listing, the Foldnex name and icons — separately from the code. Installing it from the Chrome Web Store also puts you under Google's Chrome Web Store terms for that distribution channel.
Third-party services
Foldnex works with several third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Groq, Cerebras, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, xAI) and with your own local Ollama server, entirely at your choice and using your own API key. Your agreement with that provider governs your use of it; Magrathean is not responsible for it, including its accuracy, availability or any charges it makes.
Using the extension safely and lawfully
Foldnex closes tabs it identifies as exact duplicates and groups the rest automatically. Keep your own backups, bookmarks or session history for anything you cannot afford to lose; Magrathean is not responsible for a tab closed or a browsing context lost this way. Only use Foldnex to manage tabs you have the right to access.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. Questions: contact+foldnex@magrathean.uk.
Foldnex is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by Google LLC or any AI provider named above.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The extension is provided as it is. Features that depend on Chrome's own on-device model or on a third-party AI provider may change or stop working when those change.
