Teslatlas
Privacy Policy
Teslatlas is published by MAGRATHEAN UK LTD (“Magrathean”). This notice explains what the app does with your data. The Magrathean privacy policy covers everything else, including your rights and how to contact us.
Teslatlas is local-first. It imports your vehicle history into a mirror on your device and does most of its work there. Nothing is uploaded to Magrathean merely because the app is installed or synced. The app has no advertising or analytics software, and it does not use your phone’s own location services — positions come from your imported vehicle data, not from GPS. It does register this device for push notifications with Magrathean’s own relay; see below.
The Teslatlas website, magrathean.uk/solutions/teslatlas/, separately uses Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page visits, active by default. That is website measurement, not app data collection; it does not receive your vehicle history.
On your device
Teslatlas stores your imported drives, charging sessions, routes, costs and battery data, your source connection settings, and prepared map and analytics data in the app’s local container. Source credentials are stored in Apple’s Keychain. Delete this local data at any time with the app’s Reset function, or by deleting the app.
What leaves your device
| Data | Goes to | Why | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rounded location (about 0.1°) and drive date/time | Apple WeatherKit | Show weather context for a drive | When you open an eligible drive’s detail |
| Map tile and place requests | Apple Maps (MapKit) | Render on-device maps of your routes | When a map view is shown |
| Purchase and entitlement data | Apple (App Store / StoreKit) | Process a purchase, verify or restore access | When you buy, restore or renew |
| This device’s APNs push token | Magrathean’s push relay, push.magrathean.uk | Let Magrathean’s relay deliver notifications to this device | When you enable notifications, and periodically while they stay enabled |
| Connection details and sync requests | The TeslaMate database, MyTeslaMate account or Teslatlas Hub you configure | Import your vehicle history | When you connect a source and each time it syncs |
The push relay registration sends only this device’s APNs token and app environment — never vehicle history, location or any other app content. You can see and control it from Settings; turning notifications off removes the registration. TeslaMate, MyTeslaMate and a Teslatlas Hub are separate, independently operated services; see Source connections below.
Source connections
A TeslaMate database is one you or someone else installs and controls; its operator controls its logs and access. A MyTeslaMate account connects to that provider’s own API under its own privacy terms; MyTeslaMate is independent of Magrathean. A Teslatlas Hub is a self-hosted server you or someone else pairs with; its operator controls it. None of these send your data to Magrathean.
AI explanations
Optional AI explanations are off by default. When you turn them on, Teslatlas prepares a small set of vehicle facts and uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework where available. This does not send your vehicle data to Magrathean or to a third-party AI service.
Purchases
Full access to your history’s older data is unlocked with a one-time purchase, or with a subscription if you hold one from an earlier version. Apple processes the payment and provides receipts; Magrathean does not receive your card details. Restore a purchase or subscription with Restore Purchases in Teslatlas Settings.
Permissions
Teslatlas asks to use the local network to reach a TeslaMate database or Teslatlas Hub on your own network, if you connect to one, and asks for notification permission if you enable notifications. It does not use camera, microphone or the device’s own location services.
Keeping and deleting data
Local app data stays until you reset the app, delete it, or your device removes it. Data held by a source you connect to — a TeslaMate database, MyTeslaMate account or Teslatlas Hub — is retained under that operator’s own policy, not Magrathean’s. Your push relay registration is removed when you turn off notifications or delete the app, and a stale registration is dropped automatically if Apple reports the device token is no longer valid.
Changes
We update this notice when the app changes and show the date at the top.
