Termex
Privacy Policy
Termex is published by MAGRATHEAN UK LTD (“Magrathean”). This notice explains what the app does with your data. The Magrathean privacy policy covers everything else, including your rights and how to contact us.
Termex connects directly from your device to the servers you add, over SSH. Magrathean does not run a cloud relay for your sessions, files or server credentials. Termex has no analytics or advertising SDK. An optional Apple/iCloud sync mode shares only non-secret server metadata between your own devices; passwords, private keys and passphrases always stay on the device.
The Termex website, magrathean.uk/solutions/termex/, separately uses Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page visits and link clicks, active by default. That is website measurement, not app data collection; it does not receive data from Termex.
On your device
Termex stores the servers, jump hosts and snippets you add, imported keys, known-host trust decisions and app preferences. Secrets use Keychain-backed storage. Remove a server, clear local data in Settings, or delete the app to remove this data.
What leaves your device
| Data | Goes to | Why | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSH/SFTP session data and commands | The servers, jump hosts and proxy targets you configure | Connect, transfer files and route traffic you request | Every session |
| Non-secret server metadata (names, hosts, settings — never passwords, keys or passphrases) | Apple iCloud, via CloudKit | Optional sync across your own devices | Only if you turn on Apple/iCloud sync |
| The hostname you are connecting to | Cloudflare, via DNS-over-HTTPS | Optional SSHFP host-key verification | Only if you enable an SSHFP check |
| Your Tailscale account data | Tailscale | Import servers from your tailnet | Only when you use Tailnet Import |
| Purchase and subscription status | Apple | Verify Termex Pro entitlement | App Store purchase and renewal |
Purchases
Termex Pro purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple; Magrathean does not receive your payment details.
Permissions
Termex requests local network access to reach servers on your network, and local notification permission if you enable notifications. It does not request camera, microphone or location access.
Keeping and deleting data
Server configurations, credentials and local data remain on your device (and, if iCloud sync is on, in your iCloud account) until you remove a server, turn off sync or delete the app.
Changes
We update this notice when the app changes and show the date at the top.
