Codexex -Help & FAQ

Simple answers for common setup and support questions.

Quick answers for sign-in, quota tracking, local session data, and privacy.

Sign-in

How do I sign in?

Start sign-in in the app. Codexex shows you a device code, opens Safari for approval, and then checks the result when you come back.

What if sign-in stays on waiting or times out?

Finish the approval step in Safari first, then use Check Status or start sign-in again. Codexex keeps the pending and timeout states visible instead of failing silently.

Can I use Codexex without signing in?

Yes. Preview Mode lets you look around with sample data. It is useful for a first look or offline review, but it does not fetch live quota.

Usage & sessions

Where does Codexex get my quota data from?

Live quota data comes from OpenAI after you sign in. On Mac, Codexex can also read local Codex session logs to explain which sessions likely used the most quota.

How does session and usage tracking work?

On Mac, Codexex reads local Codex JSONL session logs from your machine, groups activity by session and project, and highlights heavier tool or model usage when that local data is available.

What happens if local session tracking is missing?

Codexex can warn when no local sessions were found or when optional local hooks are not installed yet. Live quota can still work even when those extra local details are missing.

Privacy & local data

What data stays on my device?

Codexex stores account state, usage history, preview and settings state, and onboarding data locally. iPhone and iPad credentials stay in Keychain, and Mac helper authentication stays in local app support files.

Can I sign out or wipe local data?

Yes. Signing out removes account access, and reset clears local sign-in state, settings, preview state, history, and helper-related local app data.
